Indoctrination, Part 5

**Update**

Bennish reinstated. More here. Still more here. More here with video.

School's statement on Bennish (PDF)--Part 1, Part 2.

President Bush weighs in on free speech:
Q I'm from Aurora, Colorado. In our town a teacher was suspended for remarks critical of your State of the Union message, made the talk shows, et cetera -- compared you to Hitler and -- actually, I've heard the tape and he didn't, he said, "Hitler-esque," but it's not --

THE PRESIDENT: He's not the only one. (Laughter.)

Q And it's not the content that my question is about. My question is about your sense of the free speech right in the classroom or in public to criticize you without being considered unpatriotic.

THE PRESIDENT: Yes, I think people should be allowed to criticize me all they want, and they do. (Laughter.) Now what are you all laughing at over there? (Laughter.) Don't cheer him on. (Laughter.)
Stop The ACLU Commie Teacher, Jay Bennish Reinstated

Another great Cox & Forkum cartoon:

Bennish expects to be in classroom on Monday. Video of Bennish's meeting Thursday with school officials.

Colorado's State Board of Education meeting ends in partisan spat over whether or not to condemn Bennish.

An interview with one of Bennish's college professors.

Colorado state legislator offers bill to protect school districts who fire biased teachers (video).

Interestingly enough, no one posts comments to this blog. Why is that?

As for the teacher in Colorado, apparently it's good to attack someone for teaching mostly facts because you don't like whats saying, freedom of speech be damned!

It's amazing that those who call themselves patriotic so quickly overlook our individual freedoms (of which protecting used to be the goal of the Republican party) to attack someone who disagrees with them...all on the same site where you talk about Voltaire. I'm not sure I can fathom the astounding hypocracy here.

And before we try that "he's attacking and brainwashing impressionable minds" line, lets be real - your kids may listen to their teachers, but they truly learn from what they see at home. Teachers see kids an hour a day. Families see their kids for a lot more than that. I give this guy credit for trying to say stuff that may light a fire under his students to try to research and refute him. Sadly, this one conservative minded child cowardly ran and cryed to the teachers' bosses to try to shut him up. Howabout doing some homework and gaining knowledge instead of being a whining sissy?

This all smacks of the child of an alcoholic who hates hearing others calling their parent a drunk, but does nothing to help create an intervention and instead loves their abusive parent unconditionally. That's not patriotism, that's stupid. And it's the first steps towards fascism.

Why do I suspect that this blog topic wouldn't exist if the teacher compared Bill or Hillary Clinton to Hitler? Or would you falsely try to offer that you care so much about the prestiege of America that you'd defend any of our Presidents as your patriotic duty? That'd be cute. Dishonest and preposterous, but cute.

Here's an idea: rather than kill the messenger, why don't you handle the REAL problem? Let's geta government responsive to the public's will, rather than a public looking for the government to tell them where to find the kool aid.

Dan Said: "Sadly, this one conservative minded child cowardly ran and cryed to the teachers' bosses to try to shut him up. Howabout doing some homework and gaining knowledge instead of being a whining sissy?

How do you know that the student did not try to present an alternative point of view only to be subjected to riducule by mr Benish?

You yourself are being cowardly, by chosing to focus on the student. How about Mr. Benish, chosing to shop around his services to the liberal MSM to "defend" himself. That was truly a real hard interview conducted by Matt Lauer.

I for one am appalled by the fact that this idiot is allowed back in the classroom. If he wants to espouse his leftist points of
view have him move to France.

Peter Boyles of KHOW did an one hour long interview with Bennish (42 minutes minus commercials). Boyles gives Bennish all the rope he needs to hang himself. It is pretty darn funny, in a sad way, but it show Bennish to well, and truely, a weasel, and a coward. Bennish was not even willing to answer "yes", or "no", if Haile Selassie was dead. Jah rules, baby! Ha! ;-)

I wonder if Dan cares that Bennish was not certified to teach AP history?

Look for Bennish to be assigned next year to baby sit the Overland equivalant of "Welcome Back Kotter"'s sweathogs, and no longer brow beating what few AP students are left at Overland.
