George Washington's Birthday

Powerline--Remembering the indispensible man.

George Washington surely was the indispensable man. Not only during the Revolutionary War but and during his presidency but afterwards also. Going against the grain of the times, George Washington believed in integrating American Indians and blacks fully into American society, not relegating them to reservations or separating them from white society as Thomas Jefferson and others suggested. He is my hero and my favorite president. His life, especially during the French and Indian Wars and the Revolutionary War indicate, to me, a supernatural hand in his life, a certain Providence overlooking his safety and survival, giving us not only an indispensable man for his times but a man for all times.
